Junior MarathonNovember 13, 2010 - time tba The Junior Marathon is for children ages first through sixth grade (school year 10/09). Participants in the Junior Marathon will, over the course of summer and fall 2009, walk and/or run a total of 25.2 miles. On November 13th participants will complete the final mile of the Junior Marathon at the annual Chickamauga Battlefield Marathon and Half Marathon. RegistrationRegistration details will be posted in spring 2010. Logging MilesPrior to November 13, 2010 Junior Marathon participants must run and/or walk a total of 25.2 miles. Participants may divide up the mileage however they like, although it is suggested that they log a mile at a time. Participants must complete their mileage under adult supervision. Participants, with the help of an adult, will document their mileage using an official Chickamauga Battlefield Junior Marathon Mileage Log.Junior Marathoners are encouraged, but not required, to complete their first mile at the BlueCross Market Street Mile on Saturday May 16, 2009 or the BlueCross Riverbend Run 1-Mile Fun Run The Last MileOn November 13, 2010 participants will jog or walk the last mile of their marathon on part of the actual Chickamauga Battlefield Marathon course. Upon completion, they will receive a replica of the adult marathon finisher’s medal as a keepsake for their hard work and dedication. The start/finish will be at 6th Cavalry Museum in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. (directions) Official Race NumberTo participate in the Chickamauga Battlefield Junior Marathon and get an official race number, t-shirt, and a goody bag at packet pickup, participants will need to present their mileage log with 25.2 miles completed and be on our list of the first 500 registered before September 13, 2010. Medallions will only be given to those children who cross the finish line wearing an official Chickamauga Battlefield Junior Marathon race number. |
