Also, don't forget to check out the pre-race pasta dinner being held Friday November 12th from 5:30 - 8pm at the 6th Cavalry Museum (6 Barnhardt Circle). The cost is $10/person and the dinner is open to everyone. Reservation tickets are recommended but tickets will also be available at the door (while supplies last).

- Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park - the park honors one of the Civil War's most important battles
- Fort Oglethorpe Historic District - listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Barnhardt Circle is home to 16 original officer's homes, band barrack, guardhouse, and bandstand. Walking tour brochure highlights its rich history.
- 6th Cavalry Museum - the museum preserves the rich military history of the "Fighting Sixth" Cavalry
- Family fun at Carmike Battlefield 10 Cinemas and Winner's Circle Family Fun Center (go-karts, miniature golf, laser tag, indoor playground, batting cages, and arcade)
- Gilbert - Stephenson Park - outdoor playground, 2 walking tracks and picnic pavilions
- Great shopping at Gateway Antique Mall, Sear's Shoe Store and Hamrick's and other local and national chains along LaFayette Road and Battlefield Parkway
- Lee and Gordon's Mill - one of the oldest mills in Georgia, Lee and Gordon's Mill also features a general store and a tractor museum
- The Train Depot - this restored train station houses the Walker County Regional Heritage and Model Train Museum.
- The Chickamauga Coke Ovens - these restored coke ovens use to turn coal into coke for use in the Iron and Steel Foundries in Chattanooga, TN.
